Newsletters: There are two newsletter offerings. The first is a bi-monthly newsletter written by Bill for CPA firms. You can sign up for this FREE newsletter by registering on our website or by updating your profile requesting access. The second newsletter is on Construction and it is a periodic newsletter as it has no set schedule. You can register for this FREE newsletter the same way, by updating your profile. And occassionally, Dom, Michaelle or Bill will write articles that they upload to this website. If you are interested in being notified when new articles are made available, just indicate that in your profile.
Online Training: The Succession Institute Learning Management System (LMS) has not yet been launched, but should be available by spring 2009. Please take a look at the Online Training product page to review some courses planned for our LMS. Every course will have video, and some courses will be predominately video. We are in the process of applying for NASBA CPE certification and are excited about our coming attrractions.
Books: Two books are currently available, with another in production. The two books available for sale at www.cpa2biz.com are Start Consulting: How to Walk the Talk, last published in 1997 by the AICPA and in 1998 by CGA-Canada. Because the focus of the book is on how to seemlessly shift back and forth between the roles of Expert and Advisor/Facilitator, and because of the emphasis on marketing and business development, most of the book is timeless. The second book is Securing the Future: Building a Succession Plan for Your Firm. It was published in 2005 by PCPS/AICPA. The intelligence Bill gathered by surveying over 500 CPA firms, in-depth interviews with 30 managing partners of firms in (or about to be in) transition as well as Bill's 30 years experience working in this field as a management consultant make this book a tactical guidebook for CPAs wishing to develop a successful practice transition plan. Bill's first hand knowledge of implementing change in organizations so that business transition occurs more smoothly are the foundation principles which guide this text.
360 degree Leadership and Limited Personality Assessments: Dom has extensive experience working in the field of organizational development. He has been working with testing instruments for decades. At Succession Institute, we have a variety of assessments to utilize to help you uncover potential and create personal development plans for those in key positions. Please review the Assessment product page for more about our unique offerings in this area.
Buy/Sell Offering: At Succession Institute, we wanted to provide our clients with an inexpensive way to find out if there are likely candidates that might be interested in buying your firm, or just the opposite, firms you might want to buy. The same is true for merger candidates. Our Marketplace offering, slated for availability late this fall, will allow you to look at general information about firms in a geographic area that might be interested in selling, merging, buying or any combination of these. If you find a candidate or two that peaks your interest, you can sign our non-disclosure agreements and go through a series of steps that, assuming both parties remain interested, will eventually lead to a face-to-face meeting to discuss the possibilities.
